Vietnam’s Corona Resort and Casino celebrated its grand opening over the weekend, becoming the country’s first integrated resort to welcome local Vietnamese citizens to its gaming floor.

Located on Phu Quoc Island, the resort represents a major milestone for Vietnam’s emerging gaming industry. Under a government pilot program, Vietnamese nationals with proof of sufficient income are permitted to gamble at the facility, breaking with the country’s longstanding policy of restricting casino access to foreign passport holders only.

This pilot program could reshape Vietnam’s approach to regulated gambling and generate significant tourism revenue.

The resort features over 200 gaming tables and 2,000 slot machines alongside luxury hotel accommodations, restaurants, and entertainment facilities. Officials will monitor the program closely before deciding whether to expand casino access at other locations across Vietnam.
